1 INTERNATIONAL OPEN INNOVATION PROGRAM
MATCHER is the International Open Innovation program based in Emilia-Romagna region that aims at supporting local companies to address specific business challenges by creating strategic matches with other actors of the international innovation ecosystem, in particular start-ups and scale-ups.
The second edition has involved three types of actors: 10 selected companies from Emilia-Romagna region, national and international start-ups and scale-ups and all the actors from the Italian and international innovation ecosystem.
The business challenges addressed by the second edition of the program has regarded the European Green Deal, and they were grouped into three thematic clusters:

The program has been composed by three key points.
Match.Point – the International matching program dedicated to the 10 selected companies based in Emilia-Romagna and to the admitted start-ups/scale-ups with the goal of addressing the companies’ challenges. Companies and start-ups/scale-ups had about 3 months to match, connect and find opportunities to co-create solutions around shared business needs.
Big.Match and Final.Match – the closing moments of MATCHER, where further matches, as well as networking with the national and international innovation community, took place. The event was open to innovation actors from all over the world.

JULY – AUGUST 2021
Corporates have been interviewed in order to prioritize their sustainability objectives and needs around innovation, strategy, and future-proof solutions during 1to1 dedicated calls.
INTERNATIONAL ROADSHOW
SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER 2021
International Roadshow to scout startups from all over the world in the three fields of the Green Deal topic: green materials, digital processes & smart monitoring, greener production & technologies.
CALL IS OPEN
SEPTEMBER 15th 2021 – NOVEMBER 30th 2021
Applicant startups have been admitted to the program if they satisfied two criteria. The first one took into account a high-level fit with the challenges of the Corporate partners; the second one was based on the maturity of the applicant (TRL minimum 4).
STARTUP/SCALEUP PREPARATION
SEPTEMBER 15th 2021 – NOVEMBER 30th 2021
Admitted startups have had the chance to be supported by professional consultants to be prepared for meeting the Corporate partners through either virtual courses on business modeling and pitching skills and 1to1 meetings.
MATCH.POINT
SEPTEMBER 15th 2021 – DECEMBER 10th 2021
Corporate partners and startups matchmaking meetings to build and create win-win relationships aiming to improve their business in accordance with the European Green Deal ambitions.
BIG.MATCH + FINAL.MATCH
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 16th 2021
Meetings among innovative corporations, startups and research laboratories from all over the world to enrich each other; an Open Innovation Event with keynotes from international guests and inspiring talks.
